HaCon Establishes Mobility Lab in Berlin

Hannover/Berlin Jul 23, 2014

As of now, HaCon can be found in Berlin as well: The software company won over Christian Maertins, a successful start-up founder and specialist in connected mobility and user-oriented product development. The new HaCon Mobility Lab mainly focuses on linking all means and options of transport in a smart way as well as on the latest trends in apps. The team of three recently moved into their office in Berlin-Prenzlauer Berg. In the future, HaCon aims to further expand its presence in Germany's capital.

In addition to the Hannover-based R&D department, the office in Berlin will further strengthen HaCon's research and development. The lab creates space for experiments such as for testing new technologies like wearables. Mobility services, intelligently combining and integrating them into new user interfaces are the special focus. Christian Maertins, Head of HaCon Mobility Lab: "We aim to complete the strengths and core competencies of our colleagues in Hannover by new impulses, for example regarding smart mobility and a future-oriented design for our HAFAS products. In addition to opening new markets, we want to promote the evolution of today's journey planner towards even more innovative mobility services."

"We decided in favor of Berlin because it is the European pioneer in both supply and demand of connected transport solutions," said Michael Frankenberg, Managing Director at HaCon. "We are convinced that the city with its vibrant start-up culture provides the ideal conditions to understand mobility processes even better. This way, we will make sure that our products continue to be at least one step ahead of the competition."

This year, HaCon celebrates its 30th anniversary with a team that has grown to more than 220 employees. Two newly opened offices in Great Britain (2013) and France (2014) underline the company's international orientation and guarantee even better and faster service on site. HaCon's strategic development also includes the close cooperation with Hamburg-based EOS UPTRADE that adds a strong expertise in ticketing to the comprehensive portfolio of software solutions.
