BRAVO

Premiering a Corridor-based Optimization Concept

The Brenner corridor is one of the most frequented international transit corridors. Stretched over a distance of only 448 kilometers (278 miles) between Munich and Verona, it bridges three countries and thus three railway infrastructures as well as the Alps (inclination Brenner north ramp 26 ‰). In addition to the Brenner Action Plan, which was adopted in December 2002, BRAVO significantly contributed to a sustainable increase in international rail freight transport on the Brenner route. The measures and developments realized within the project include a coherent corridor and quality management scheme, a concept for an internationally coordinated resource schedule, innovative operating procedures of multi-system locomotives as well as an international train monitoring system. BRAVO also premiered a corridor-based optimization concept. Project findings and measures have repeatedly been transferred to other corridors as well since then.
