HAFAS for Google Mapplets

HAFAS can easily integrate diverse map services, such as PTV, Bing Maps, Open Street Map or Google Maps. Many customers already take advantage of these services.

With HAFAS Google Mapplets, the situation is reversed: HAFAS is part of Google Maps, thus it is integrated into Google Maps and can be started from there. Maps or small applications that run within Google Maps are called Mapplets. They are hosted by Google, while the HAFAS customer retains control over the content, can calculate the results and present them.

Base of the search for connections are always HAFAS data that are processed by the HAFAS server to calculate the connection. In practice, next to the map in HAFAS Google Mapplets there is an input mask for the HAFAS search where departure and destination with date and time can be entered. Starting point may be a train station, a Point of Interest (POI) or an address. As a result, the content is visualised on the map and shown in parallel with the connection details, such as transit stops, arrival and departure times, interchanges and total travel time.

By clicking on the icons for stops on the map, a departure table appears with the next outgoing connections from the chosen stop or station. By clicking on the icon, the user can show or hide additional content from HAFAS, such as POIs, bicycle rental stations, etc., and have further details displayed.

HAFAS for Google Mapplets: The route from Hannover to Stockhom is described - including change-overs and duration of trip - and presented on the map.
