HAFAS-FAQ ... frequently asked questions

In the following we would like to provide answers to some frequently asked questions.

Last update June 2010

Why is the timetable of a particular transit provider incomplete?

The data basis for the travel information systems is created by the "Europäische Fahrplanzentrum" (EFZ). There the data is administered, edited and prepared for further use. The data preparation is handled specificly for the customers' needs, i.e. weekly for online info systems and monthly or as needed for other forms of media.

Our task lies in the creation of software, meaning the technology. We therefore have no influence on the timely availability of the data.

Which Windows versions of HAFAS are available? Where can they be ordered?

All available versions are distributed by various European Railways and local traffic services.
You can find a detailed list here.

Since summer 2008 the CDs "Regional timetables" not any more in the offer. Instead the data must be downloaded from the internet.

On which way the HAFAS-CDs can be updated?

A new feature for HAFAS-Offline is an update manager, which looks in periodical intervals for updates.
Now there are two update possibilities: the classic manual and the automatic update procedure.

I do not find any platform details on my HAFAS-CD?

At the moment the platform details cannot be integrated on the CDs, because this information is not available at the time of going to press.
We hope to offer a better solution in the future.

If you have already installed one or several updates, you should check the control field "Platform details" in the menu "Options - Settings - View".
The control field must be selected.

For which customers is HAFAS-Print2Web interesting?
Especially for commuters or frequent travellers who don't just use a specific connection on a special day, but are instead interested in a complete timetable for a larger time frame, e. g. for all workdays.
These individual results can be transfered to the customer either by e-mail or directly via a website.
Output formats are PDF for Adobe Reader, PDB for Palm-Organizers as well as J2ME/MIDP for Java capable mobile phones.

HAFAS-Palm

Made especially for Palm OS, HaCon has developed a solution which is customised for extremely small memory in handheld computers.
HAFAS-Palm is based on the HAFAS Personal Timetable module on the Internet, HAFAS-Print2Web. Here, personal timetables are calculated and downloaded onto your Palm.
On your Palm every single timetable can be selected using a comfortable user interface and can be viewed at different levels of detail.
Also HAFAS-Palm can indicate further information about the single timetable, e. g. train information. To use HAFAS-Palm on the go, there is no need for an online-connection, because timetables are stored on the Palm. Updated timetables can be downloaded directly from the Internet or via your computer.
