HAFAS-Fares Module

HAFAS Fares Module The HAFAS-Fares Module is already being used by several operating companies (e.g. Bus Operators, TOCs, Transit Authorities, Transit Networks, National Railways). The following samples show the implementation of several different fare and tariff systems like zone-based, time-based, distance-based or journey-based fares and tariffs.

The versions HAFAS-Windows and HAFAS-Internet of the DB AG with HAFAS-Fares Module

The fares module kernel was originally provided by DB Systems. HaCon integrated it into HAFAS and enhanced it by additional features (e.g. Price Assistant, CityTicket).

  • Output of prices
  • Price Assistant with recommendation logic (incl. tips how to save money with the DB fares system features like Mitfahrer, BahnCard, SparPreise, minimum prices, ...)
  • In the HAFAS-Internet version a link is integrated to an online booking system

Tariffs and fares for on-demand routes

Within the project Impuls 2005 the HAFAS-Fares Module was enhanced to calculating fares for on-demand routes. The requested routes and times of these busses are collected in a call-center and are arranged just in time.
Nevertheless it is possible to calculate one fare for trips with combined transports (regular transports and especially on-demand transports). On the basis of calculated fares from our fares module, tickets for those combined transports can be printed in on-demand busses.
