BeMobility combines electric vehicles with public transport in the Berlin area
[Hannover, December 2009]
Get out of the train - into the electric car: This is the future. In the research project BeMobility electric vehicles are to be intelligently linked with public transport. Eleven partners participate under the direction of DB AG at the e-mobility model region in the Berlin-Potsdam area. Now, the Federal Ministry of Transport (BMVBS) decided in favour of the common project.
BeMobility pursues the goal of complementing public transport in and around Berlin with electrically operated vehicles so that passengers are fully mobile and contribute to reducing emissions in the city area. It is planned to gradually build up a public vehicle fleet of 40 electric cars and about 50 Pedelecs - bicycles with electric traction assistance - including the appropriate charging infrastructure.
Within the project HaCon will integrate the eMobility services into the timetable information for public transport. This includes transfers with electric vehicles to and from public transport services, taking into account specific conditions (vehicle location, distances) and the facilitation of bookings from the information.
