RASIM ... Analysis and planning of operational concepts and -lay close by shunting simulation
The problem
Rail goods traffic causes substantial costs, both in reproaching the
infrastructure and during operation. This applies particularly to areas,
where wagons have to be shunt and trains have to be resolved and formed.
At the same time the requirements rise in the quality of logistic services.
Modifications of production struc-tures also always affect the feed sector.
Operational concepts must be modified accordingly, the resour-ces and infrastructure
must be adapted to the requirement.
For the provider of rail goods traffic performances thereby the following questions arise:
- How efficiently are those available resources (shunting means, employees, infrastructure) used?
- With which operational, technical and infrastructural measures can the operation procedure be improved?
- Which effects have modifications of quantity structure on the operation procedure?
- How can misinvestments be avoided?
The solution
The simulation and planning system RASIM was developed in order

operation procedures within shunting areas.
A special advantage exists in the possibility of exchanging data with the railway management system RADIS. As a result of this system network a computer-aided complete supply arises from the planning over the conversion up to the controlling of the daily operation procedure.
